
Westinghouse has been awarded three grants totalling GBP10.5 million (USD13.6 million) from the UK government’s Nuclear Fuel Fund to upgrade and expand the Springfields fuel fabrication facility in Lancashire in northwest England. The grants are aimed at “future-proofing” the UK nuclear fuel industry by developing more variants of light water reactor fuels, including for the AP1000 reactor and the AP300 small modular reactor (SMR).
