Government explains process and benefits for communities hosting nuclear waste disposal facility. Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) has explained its consent-based process works for the siting of a geological disposal facility (GDF) for the long-term storage of radioactive waste and the benefits for communities which host them. The process can take 15–20 years, and construction can only begin after a positive public support test and the necessary permissions from regulators are obtained.
