TASC is pleased to see their letter, sent to the National Audit Office, the UK’s independent public spending watchdog, has been picked up by Energy Voice and the industry reporter New Civil Engineer.
“TASC have considerable concerns about the decision making at this pre-FID stage of the project due to the risk to public finances and the lack of transparency regarding the VfM assessment which is being used to justify the current funding,” Chris Wilson wrote on behalf of the campaign group.

Commenting on the TASC proposal to bring Sizewell C in front of the NAO, Lord Howell of Guildford said: “I have no direct local interest in the proposed Sizewell C site, but from the point of view of the taxpayer, of the hard-pressed consumer and energy costs, of climate concerns and of Britain’s planned energy transition, this so-called ‘replica’ of the Hinkley C giant and troubled nuclear plant in Somerset – itself vastly over budget and years beyond completion time – is now becoming a very poor deal indeed.
