The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) are supporting Operation Fieldfare, a Home Office led initiative, which aims to reduce the threat to the UK by collecting certain types of radioactive materials from UK based medical and research facilities and disposing of these radioactive sources. The Designating Direction from the Secretary of State gives the NDA the required functions to develop an effective and safe disposal in respect of the in-scope sources.
