
Building a third nuclear power reactor, creating trucker facilities for sea port traffic, improving rail links or establishing a light-regulation freeport could boost Heysham for the future, some councillors believe. Colin Hartley and Roger Cleet, a Labour and Independent councillor respectively, have shared their views on Heysham’s after a recent announcement that its two existing nuclear power stations will generate electricity for longer than planned. A third, smaller nuclear reactor could potentially be located there too, some say.
