The risk of blackouts this winter is lower than last year, National Grid is expected to indicate this week, as Britain benefits from healthy European gas stocks and the restart of French nuclear reactors. The company responsible for keeping the lights on is due to issue its annual winter outlook for electricity supplies, while its counterpart, National Gas, will publish the outlook for its supplies. The two are interlinked because gas power stations are Britain’s biggest source of electricity.
