Factory chiefs are pleading with the government not to cut future energy bill support after a £50bn downturn for the sector in 2022. Manufacturing bosses at struggling companies are understood to be dreading the spectre of shutdowns and job cuts if more help with gas and electricity costs is not forthcoming.
