The UK Government’s climate advisory committee has warned Ministers that many of their peers at the COP28 summit in Dubai believe they are hypocritical, calling for stronger international targets but pushing for fossil fuel expansion domestically. The warning is contained in a new report from the Climate Change Committee (CCC) this week, outlining how key measures agreed in Dubai should result in more rapid and joined-up national policymaking on adaptation and the low-carbon transition.
