British Gas received 1.4m complaints from angry billpayers over the past 18 months, new figures show, as concerns over the energy giant’s customer service rumble on. The backlash against the gas and electricity supplier emerged as part of its latest results, which revealed half-year profits of more than £1bn for its parent company Centrica. It generated the cash despite 411,000 complaints between January and June this year, which were in addition to a further 1m grievances in 2023.
