A global nuclear engineering firm has strengthened its UK presence with the acquisition of a specialist construction company. Paris-headquartered Assystem has acquired Whitley Bay-based Mactech Energy Group, a nuclear construction expert with a £16 million turnover in 2024. Bosses say the deal will strengthen and “accelerate” Assystem’s capabilities, as the UK prepares for up to 24GW of new nuclear projects in coming decades.
