RESIDENTS WALK AGAINST SIZEWELL C’S INTOLERABLE IMPACT ON THE AREA

Press Release

A group of local residents will walk from Yoxford to Sizewell on the 31st May to draw attention to the intolerable impact the construction of Sizewell C will have on the area, should it ever go ahead.  People of all opinions – from those  opposing nuclear power as a means of generating electricity to those incensed at the local impact of 600 large vehicle movements a day along the B1122 through picturesque and tranquil villages – will join forces and make their feelings known by undertaking the walk.

Members of Friends of the Earth (FoE), Shut Down Sizewell Campaign (SDSC), Together Against Sizewell C (TASC), the B1122 Action Group, Theberton and Eastbridge Action Group (TEAG) and others will meet at the junction of the A12 and the B1122 at 10am on the 31st May.

TASC Acting Chairman, Pete Wilkinson, said today, ‘This walk will give people living in the shadow of this proposed development the first chance to publicly demonstrate their concerns, be they about the dangers associated with nuclear power, the inappropriate location for another nuclear plant on the Suffolk coast or about the local impacts of noise, traffic, disruption and incursion into our heritage coastline, its unique flora and fauna, and the destruction of its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and its Site of Special Scientific Interest SSSI).

‘We encourage everyone harbouring such concerns to join us and tell EdF, the local authorities who appear to be  colluding with EdF and central government, to halt this urbanisation  and destruction of East Suffolk.

'Join us and let’s begin the fight back against these monstrous plans.’
